Changes to my study programme

I think I would make a lot of changes to my syllabus. In my opinion the degree is unnecessarily long, in other countries the Chemistry degree lasts 4 years, but here in Chile it lasts almost 6 years. Some courses such as Introduction to Calculus would eliminate it, and the matter seen in that course would be compacted and incorporated into Differential Calculus. I would do the same with General Chemistry I and General Chemistry II, I would merge them into a single subject called General Chemistry. Similarly there are several courses that can be merged.

As for the academic hours, as many courses will cover several contents, these should be at least 3 classes a week, and for this reason students should not take more than 5 courses per semester, so that they do not stress over so many things to study.

Regarding the facilities of the faculty, in the last time they have expanded and built new study rooms, but in my opinion what is missing are more laboratories, since sometimes there are only two or three equipment for 100 students. I feel like a lot of them don't learn how to use the equipment because they only see it once or twice during the entire major.

Finally, if we learned something with this pandemic, it is that it is possible to do online classes, perhaps they do not have the same appeal as face-to-face classes, but they also have their advantages. For this reason, I believe that a mixed system of classes should be implemented, where one week is face-to-face and the next the teachers do the class online or upload an explained video and then solve the doubts in class. All this in order for students to learn but at the same time to be able to study actively at home, which in my opinion is a quality that many students today do not have.
